To earn the license from fair trade usa to use the fair trade certified label on their products, businesses must buy from fair trade certified farms, agree to pay fair trade prices and community development premiums, and submit to a rigorous supply chain audit.

Today fair trade has grown into a leading market-based model of sustainable production, trade, and consumption, and is approaching an inflection point. In 2020, the sale of fair trade certified products in the us reached an estimated $6 billion from our 1,400 leading partners and retail sales.

In 2020 we developed the first fair trade dairy standards in the world. Building upon a foundation of impact and market expansion, we initiate a fair trae certification pilot program in 2020 to bring fair trade to a new sector - dairy. We partnered with dairy farms an cooperatives in the new york an idaho.
