philanthropy.org is the home for nonprofits. Every U.S. nonprofit already files a public IRS Form 990; we make that data free to search and easy to understand, and give the people behind each organization a place to tell its story.

What we do

990 Scout turns IRS filings into readable pages for every tax-exempt organization: finances, officers, grants, and who funds whom. Anyone can look up a nonprofit, compare it with others, or find foundations that fund its cause, without an account and without paying.

Nonprofits can claim their page to add context to what the filing shows, post updates, and be reached by funders and supporters.

Who runs it

philanthropy.org is run by Reif Tauati, with a small team and a set of automated assistants that help keep the data fresh and the site working. Write to [email protected].

How it is funded

Reading the data is free and will stay free. The site is paid for by three things:

Pay it forward gifts from readers who want to keep the site free for the next person (they unlock nothing).
Paid badge tiers for nonprofits that want the public Verified mark, analytics and team management.
Person verification ($10 a year and a photo-ID check), which keeps claims honest.
