Answers to the questions we hear most. If yours isn't here, write to [email protected] and we will get back to you.
How do I claim my organization's page?
Find your organization, choose the claim button on its page, sign in, and file your claim. You will be asked to verify yourself first (see below).
What do I get from claiming?
Free edit access to your public page and the ability to post updates as your organization. A separate paid badge tier adds the public Verified mark, analytics and team management.
What does verification need?
One strong signal (your name matches an officer on the latest Form 990, or a shared organization inbox) or two medium ones (such as a personal email at your organization's domain plus one supporting document). No IRS determination letter is needed. Details: Org claim requirements.
How long does review take?
If your verified legal name matches an officer on your latest Form 990, the claim is approved the moment you file. Every other claim is reviewed by a person.
What is annotating?
Once you own a claimed page, you can add plain-language notes next to lines of your Form 990 so readers understand the numbers. Your notes appear on your public page; the IRS filing itself is never changed.
Something on my page is wrong. Can you fix it?
We show the filing exactly as reported. If the filing is inaccurate, the filing organization or the IRS has to correct it. If you own the page you can add context beside the number. Tell us about a mistake in how we display a filing at the address below.
Can you remove my name or my organization?
IRS filings are public records and we do not alter or remove them, so a name in a filing stays in the filing. Names typically stop appearing once an organization no longer reports you in later filings. We publish no street addresses, phone numbers or personal email addresses. To close your own account or delete what we hold about you, write to us; see Privacy.
