The kokee natural history museum greets more than 93,500 visitors annually. The museum is an interpretive center & features exhibits on the natural & cultural history of kauai, particularly its forest flora, fauna and threats to the native forest. The 2,000 square foot exhibition center is continually refreshed.

Hol sponsored a variety of innovative interpretive programs. The annual banana poka roundup each may is the traditional opening of summer in waimea canyon & kokee state parks and was attended by approximately 525 people.

With the help of several grants in aid from the hawaii state legislature, and a considerable effort of dedicated volunteers, hui o laka has continued the long-term renovation of the historic civilian conservation corps (CCC) camp at kokee. The camp was placed on both the hawaii and national registers of historic places in 1996.
