Conservation Land Acquisition & Stewardship

The DHC acquires and manages conservation lands. DHC owns over 1200 acres, has conservation easements on 25 acres and co-manages the dishman hills natural resource conservation area with spokane county and washington state. The total protected lands is 3200 acres. The volunteer steward program educates users and helps with stewardship.

Education and Publications

The DHC did not have in-person education programs and relied on virtual and video instruction. The kids in the hills curriculum was self-guided. The DHC publishes a newsletter and maintains a website to promote conservation throughout spokane county.

Outreach Program

The DHC outreach program was limited due to covid restrictions. DHC conducted self-guided activities for community education and recreation. The events include hikes, nature walks, stewardship projects and virtual presentations.
