Horticulture

Pittsburgh botanic garden was first conceived in 1988 by horticulturists who envisioned a world class outdoor garden for southwest pennsylvania. In 1998, the garden signed a 99-YEAR lease with allegheny county for the development of a botanic garden.

Guest Experience

Since the garden was opened to the public in 2015, annual visitation has been steadily increasing. Nearly 125,000 visitors have enjoyed this cultivated outdoor space. Guests come to experience the garden's cultivated gardens and woodlands to connect with plants.

Pittsburgh botanic garden offers the beauty of its display gardens and woodlands through the garden of the five senses, heritage homestead, hillside pollinator garden, margaret lawrence simon dogwood meadow, allegheny plateau woodland, asian woodland and european woodland.
