Outreach

The Samaritans is in a unique position to increase awareness of issues relating to suicide prevention education and access to medical behavioral health resources for special populations, including but not limited to: youths and teens, prison inmates and minority communities.

Hotline

The Samaritans 24 hour confidential hotline / listening line has trained volunteers since 1977 to use non-judgmental, non religious befriending skills to help callers of all ages who are hopeless, alone, suicidal or seeking information to help a family member or friend.

The Samaritans provides RI's only free, continually operating bereavement support group exclusively for adults who have experienced death by suicide of a family member or friend.
