The Brown Public Library is primarily a lending library. The library loans approximately 2100 items per month. It also loans outdoor recreation equipment.

The Brown Public Library youth librarian hosts a number of events for youth and young children. These include a teen advisory board a summer reading program for youth a biweekly story hour for children under 6 a weekly event involving LEGOS a weekly playgroup for children under 6 pumpkin carving and similar activities.

The BPL youth librarian also does a book giveaway at the local elementary school. The books are ordered and purchased with a grant from the Lance Foundation
