Shelters

Midcoast Humane operates two shelters, one in Edgecomb and one in Brunswick Maine. The animal population in these shelters varies widely. On December 31, 2022, MH housed 321 animals. During 2022, Midcoast Humane cared for 2,839 dogs, cats and small animals. We had 2,387 adoptions and returned 302 missing animals to their homes.

Thrift Store

Midcoast Humane operates a Thrift Store in Boothbay Harbor. All merchandise sold by the thrift store is donated to us by community members and all proceeds go directly to supporting our mission.

Community Outreach

Our Community Outreach programs provides services to promote animal retention. A big part of our mission includes helping community members care for their animals in their homes. In 2022, Midcoast Humane paid $12,062.41 in public assistance and $8,374.26 for low cost spay/neiter vouchers redeemed at local veterinary offices.
