Midcoast humane operates two shelters, one in edgecomb and one in brunswick, maine. The animal population in these shelters varies widely. On december 31, 2025, MH housed 259 animals. During 2025, midcoast humane adopted out 2,576 dogs, cats and small animals, returned 337 missing animals to their owners, took IN962 strays and 1,273…

Midcoast humane is working to expand low cost access to wellness and SPAY/NEUTER clinics for the public. In 2025, one hundred and eighty three people attended public wellness clinics. A wellness exam can include vaccinations, microchipping and FLEA/TICK preventatives.

Our community outreach programs provide services to promote animal retention. A big part of our mission includes helping community members care for their animals in their homes. In 2025, midcoast humane paid $34,986.13 in public assistance and $2,880 for low cost SPAY/NEUTER vouchers redeemed at local veterinaryoffices.
