II. No Depression Program Accomplishments No Depression has been the roots music authority since 1995. Though it began as a pioneering publication for alt-country coverage, today we think of roots music as an umbrella term that encompasses folk, (alt-)country, bluegrass, blues, singer-songwriters, etc. Any sort of music of the people.
