Spokane Tribe of Indians

In addition to graduating eighteen language students, we transcribed more than thirty handwritten language folders written between 1969 and 1972 by linguist Barry Carlson and tribal elder Pauline Flett.

Adult Vocational Training

In 2020, Spokane Language House created a vocational training certificate in collaboration with the Higher Education Department of the Spokane Tribe. Our certificate program required students to study the Spokane Language at a beginning level for 12 weeks at 20 hours per week, for a total of 240 hours.

Funding from the Vadon Foundation provided supplemental support to Spokane Language House to cover expenses not covered by Adult Vocational Training or the Spokane Tribe of Indians, such as attendance at educational conferences, staff training, capacity building, etc.
