The cubacaribe festival of dance and music is the center of the organization's programming andcrucial to its mission. Held annually over two to three weeks each spring, it is the only festival in thebay area devoted to folkloric and contemporary dance and music of the afro-caribbean and itsdiaspora.

Alayo has choreographed thirteenevening-length works for his company that fuse modern, afro-cuban folkloric, and populardance and that deal with social and personal issues, such as slavery…
