Volunteers have begun traveling again since COVID-19to volunteer their services for the poor. Through their intensity and compassion, they have helped some of the poorest of the poor. One team built 2 homes for families living in destitution.

Staff employment is integral to improve the effectiveness of services with scaled impact. Service offerings for the extremely poor are complex and require expertise, local partnerships, and extensive outreach. Increasing capacity is necessary for long-term impact.

Children with disabilities are diverse. The rate of disability in Guatemala is high and Guatemala's budget for resources is limited, especially in rural areas. Factors such as adolescents giving birth, and malnutrition contribute to prematurity, birth defects, birth and infant injury, and parental neglect.
