A joint funding agreement with the U.S. Army corps of engineers and the illinois department of natural resources for the fox river habitat and connectivity study has been in effect for several years. In 2018, the FRSG agreed to reimburse the idnr's funding for their local match share of study costs.

The fox river study group funded a river monitoring gage through the united states geological survey (usgs). This gage continuously measures dissolved oxygen, PH, conductivity, and temperature downstream of the algonquin dam.
