Legal Services

Immigration equality provides direct legal services and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and hiv-positive (LGBTQ/H) immigrants. In 2021, we provided legal representation to roughly 800 LGBTQ/H individuals through our in-house legal team and nationwide pro bono network.

Immigration equality's communications and education efforts focus on demonstrating the importance of the U.S. Asylum system and highlighting the discriminatory impact of immigration law and policy on LGBTQ/H immigrants and their families.

Immigration equality works to advance policies that protect LGBTQ/H asylum seekers and detained individuals. Through meetings, briefings, hearings, and other communications, we educate policymakers and agency officials in washington, D.C. About the dangers that LGBTQ/H immigrants face.
