Membership, which provides members access to neta, was created to fill a necessary requirement in the application and use of electrical power. To this end, neta has developed and promulgated standards for testing newly installed power systems prior to energization as well as existing in-service power systems.

Neta hosts the annual powertest electrical safety and maintenance conference. Powertest includes paper presentations on safety, reliability, and equipment; a new product forum; a trade show; interactive panel sessions and symposiums, post-conference seminars and various networking opportunities.
