Food Education
Local matters food education programs include food matters and cooking matters. Our food education programs provide lessons that teach adults and kids age-appropriate culinary skills, nutrition, hands-on meal preparation, and food SHOPPING/BUDGETING.
Veggie Van
Veggie van, launched in summer 2019, is a mobile grocer and food education program that sells fruits and vegetables, healthy pantry staple items, and meal kits to feed a family of four at low prices, and helping to stretch customer's dollar by accepting snap, and providing a $1 for $1 match on snap purchases.
Community Food Access
Local matters recognizes that our work is most impactful when we layer food education and access services ensuring participants understand what healthful food is, how to prepare it and how to access it. In 2020, local matters expanded these efforts in response to the urgent and growing need for fresh food.
