To foster respect for the rule of law by cultivating the science of jurisprudence, promoting reform in the law, facilitating the administration of justice, elevating the standards of the legal profession, cherishing a collegial spirit in the legal profession and perpetuating the memory of its members. The Vermont Bar Association, founded in 1878, is a Vermont non-for-profit corporation, the members of which are attorneys licensed to practice in the state of Vermont. The Bar Association currently serves approximately 2200 members. Its purpose is to assist the members in improving the practice of law, to cultivate the science of jurisprudence, to promote reform in the law, to facilitate the administration of justice, to elevate the standards of the legal profession, to cherish a collegial spirit among its members, and to perpetuate their memory. The Bar Association focuses on professionalism and education of its members by providing many continuing legal education programs.

Licensed attorneys in vermont are required to complete 20 hours of mandatory continuing legal education every two years. The association offers live seminars, teleseminars, webinars and video replays on the latest developments as well as standard core curricula in many areas of substantive law, economics of practice, law office…

Young Lawyers Section

A section of the vermont bar association for attorneys who have practices ten years or less AND/OR are 37 years of age and under. The young lawyers section sponsors a mid-winter meeting each year in montreal, but in 2021, the meeting was held virtually due to the pandemic.
