Personal Assistance Services
Sometimes called "caregiver services", comprise programs that provide disabled people with personal care attendants to assist them with the activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living that they are not able to perform themselves as a result of their disability.
Independent Living Services
Federal and state funded programs that support persons with a disability in the state of maine to live independently. Core services include information and referral, peer counseling, skills training, transition services, individual and systems advocacy, and outreach. 3,547 client contracts during the fiscal year.
Other Fee Based Services
Include 1) a low interest loan program for disabled people seeking to acquire adaptive equipment or assistive technology to help them live more independently; 2) architectural consulting to address barriers to access; 3) driver evaluation and education for disabled people who want to operate a motor vehicle.
