A literary scholar and neuroscientist, she earned her B.A. and M.A.
in women's studies from Emory University and her Ph.D. in English and American literature from Harvard University, with additional training in cognitive neuroscience at Caltech and NYU.
Prior to Pomona, she served as dean of New York University's College of Arts and Science.
