Where the work happens
Highland partners facilitated 153 volunteers from university and church groups who worked in native communities in guatemala and the white mountain apache reservation in arizona. These transformational experiences provided an estimated 900 hours of volunteer services in community-led infrastructure and educational programs.
Association of Highland Women
Provided support for the formation of a regional women's organization to provide leadership opportunities and resources to maya women and network these leaders.
By the roots was established to provide community organizing assistance to tribal members on the white mountain apache reservation and to develop community based solutions to the problems of food insecurity and social isolation.
