The mission of Praxis is to revitalize the field of Fiber art in the cleveland area by giving local artists and community members access to Fiber related equipment, classes and studio space. Praxis is dedicated to increasing awareness and expanding the field of contemporary Fiber art by creating an environment of experimentation, exhibition and communication locally and within the broader art community.

Praxis offers a variety of courses open to all community members. These courses specialize in the processes of textile arts such as weaving, fabric surface design and yarn spinning. There are two, six-month sessions during the year where one day workshops run on Saturdays and five week courses run in the evenings (approximately 75…

Our Digital Weaving Lab hosts two TC2 looms. These looms are manufactured in Norway and are the only looms with jacquard capability for the handweaver to use. We host two week residency programs where artists come from all over the world to acccess this equipment. We host 48 artist residents per year.

Praxis offers three tiers of membership for artists who wish to use our workshop as a studio space. The basic membership level at $55/month allows access during open studio hours only when Praxis staff is present. The second tier, working membership for $125/month allows 24/7 access to the facility.
