In 2011, SHE-CAN began recruiting scholars from Rwanda. By 2014, the organization had expanded into Cambodia, and in 2018, recruited the first class of scholars in Liberia. To date, 74 scholars have won a total of $19M in scholarships to American colleges and universities. SHE-CAN saw an opportunity to engage U.S.
