Apbi provides stations with single point of contact with five different public broadcasting program providers including NPR and american public media. Apbi negoiates group programming buy on behalf of alaskan broadcasters, pays program providers, and collects fees from stations.

Under agreements (contracts and grants) from the state of alaska apbi has managed the arcs satellite service and maintained a trouble line for users of the state of alaska owned arcs to report outages and issues with service.
