About the role

The org's own posting, as written

At First Entertainment, we believe that great people experiences drive great business outcomes. Our People & Culture team operates as strategic enterprise enablers, not a service function, driving real business results, by helping leaders build high-performing, engaged teams while creating an environment where every teammate can thrive. We’re looking for a People Operations Generalist (HRBP) who brings both heart and rigor, someone who can balance employee advocacy with business impact, build strong relationships, and help us continuously evolve how we work and lead.

This role formulates partnerships across all People & Culture functions in efforts to deliver value-added services that reflect the business objectives. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding and working experience of the full-cycle employee journey with an emphasis on employee relations, and a strong customer-centric focus. This is a full-time, hybrid opportunity reporting to the VP, People & Culture and is based in Hollywood, CA. The targeted pay for this role in California is between $75,000 to $95,000.

Responsibilities

Act as a sound partner to our people leaders and provide guidance on common employee relations matters, including participating in performance management discussions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation. Influence decision-making by balancing people-first thinking with business outcomes. Own key moments across the employee lifecycle (onboarding, benefits, LOA, employee relations). Provide meaningful and authentic coaching and guidance through employee relations, feedback, and development conversations. Support recruiting efforts and deliver a strong, high-touch candidate experience, and facilitate the overall candidate journey.

Actively contribute to building a high-performance and growth-oriented culture by partnering with leaders to drive team effectiveness, engagement, and performance. Maintain policies and procedures; regularly review content to ensure relevancy and make recommendations on revisions, as needed. Prepare concise communications to deliver updates on People Operations program changes or launches while ensuring a consistent, reader centric voice. Manage standard and recurring compliance obligations, such as 5500 filing, EEO-1 filing, California Pay Data reporting and industry-specific audits. Participate in key People Operations projects and implementation, including RFP, SOW, vendor management.

Oversee workers' compensation claims and renewal process. Act as a backup for payroll support when necessary. Keep abreast of industry best practices or industry trends and make recommendations to leadership. Perform other tasks as needed. At First Entertainment, your role, and every role, is essential to fulfilling our Mission, “We build lifelong relationships with the people of the entertainment and creative industries based on a deep understanding of how they live and work,” and living our Core Values: Members First, Ownership…
