Since 1978, our volunteer crew—made up of medical professionals and skilled workers from over 60 nations—has delivered free surgeries and medical care to over 2.8 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa, transforming lives one patient and one port at a time. About this role The Operations Project Assistants will be responsible to assist the Operations Director with Annual Maintenance Period (AMP) projects. What you will contribute Maintain organized work area.
Provides flexible support across departments by assisting with AMP projects, tasks, and operational needs as they arise. Assist with pack-up or set-up of vessel and off-ship sites, if applicable. Attend department meetings/devotions on all workdays. Other duties as assigned. For This Role, You Will Need Supportive of Mercy Ships mission and vision and committed to its core values. Commitment to live out and model Mercy Ships core values. Adherence to the Mercy Ships Code of Conduct. Able to live in and contribute to community life on a Mercy Ship, requiring stable and healthy interpersonal skills. Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively, and demonstrate accountability.
Requires physical endurance for manual labor, including frequent bending, kneeling, and light-weight lifting (+/- 20lbs/9kg) Be capable of standing or walking for 8 hours a day, including climbing multiple flights of stairs. Basic technical skills for utilizing tools preferred – screwdrivers, spanners/wrenches, LM keys, etc. High School diploma or equivalent required. The experience of a lifetime is calling. More than 1,200 volunteers from over 60 nations serve with Mercy Ships each year.
