The CICU is a 38-bed unit caring for critically ill children pre- and post-cardiac surgery, as well as those awaiting transplantation.

CHOP’s cardiac surgical program performs more than 850 procedures annually, including open and closed heart surgeries and heart transplantation, with outcomes among the best in the nation. In both the CICU and CCU, the APP will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, diagnostic interpretation, medical management, and coordination of care across disciplines and care settings. APPs provide 24/7 coverage and play an integral role in patient and family education, perioperative management, and quality and safety initiatives.
