Radiologic Technologist Student

Weekend Requirements: As Needed | Work Hours: PRN | Status: Per Diem/PRN - 0.0 FTE (less than 40 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Radiology Job Summary: Provides imaging services to patients and supports the department in basic radiographic duties under the direct supervision of a registered Radiological Technologist. Job Responsibilities: Assists with patient preparation through verification of patient identity, explanation of procedures, positioning patients for exams and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Assist technologists with routine diagnostic imaging, including setting up rooms, preparing supplies and positioning equipment.

Utilizes radiation protection and safety standards. Applies as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principle to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others. Documents patient information accurately. May assist the physician in a variety of imaging procedures. Assists with the preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. May transport patients to and from imaging areas as needed. Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies. Skills and Attributes: Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under direct supervision.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Position Requirements: Work Experience No experience required Education High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire AND Currently enrolled in a Radiography program required upon hire Licensure/Certification/Registration Temporary Student Radiography License through Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) required within 30 days of employment in this position AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position Organizational Responsibilities: Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
