Position Summary
The Business Solutions Engineer is the bridge between business operations and IT — a function that does not exist today. Embedded within business departments, this role first helps people get genuine value out of the tools they already have (Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI), then evaluates how work actually gets done and builds the solutions that remove friction — either constructing them directly or scoping them for handoff to an IT admin. The role is delivered in two phases.
Phase 1 is enablement: driving adoption of Copilot and the M365 suite, teaching departments to use SharePoint, Teams, and Power BI effectively, and owning the technology relationship between IT and business segments. Phase 2 is solution building: once departments are fluent and trust is established, re-engineering their processes with automations, apps, and AI-assisted workflows. Adoption comes first; fancy workflows come later. This is the institution's first true requirements-to-implementation role.
A candidate must be able to both teach the tools and build on them, exercising the judgment to know when to construct a solution hands-on and when to translate requirements into clear, actionable work for IT admin resources. Every solution aligns with the institution's security and data governance standards. This person is equal parts enablement coach, process analyst, and solution builder. Success is measured not by how much technology is deployed, but by how much friction is removed and how widely the solutions are adopted.
