The org's own posting, as writtenAt Houston Methodist, the Research Methodologist position is responsible for providing scientific and technical consultation and coaching in research methodology for the design, planning and execution of research projects focusing on epidemiologic, quality and patient safety, clinical, translational, and outcomes research. This position works in close partnership with faculty and researchers to provide technical guidance on the design and development of research methodology frameworks and analyses.
The Research Methodologist is also responsible for providing advisement and coaching on research methodological/analytical sections of grant applications, study protocols, publications, reports and other deliverables. This position serves as subject matter expert to inform quantitative and qualitative research methodology for project conceptualization, design to implementation and evaluation phases.
This position also provides training to faculty and researchers on the use of broad range of quantitative and qualitative research methods and techniques which include developing and testing analytical models, strategies for recruitment and retention of research participants, research instrument design and testing, and assessing data quality.
FLSA STATUS Exempt QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Master's degree in Clinical Research/Health Research Methods/Epidemiology or related field required Terminal degree in related field preferred EXPERIENCE Ten years of related experience in an academic or clinical setting SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles Ability to work independently and with a team Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; a commitment to quality and excellence in service; confidentiality and professionalism Demonstrates effective and appropriate decision-making, judgment, and confidentiality as well as attention to detail and follow-through Exhibits initiative, proficiency, and adaptability to balance time and multiple competing priorities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Collaborates with faculty and researchers to lead research methodology meetings and discussions.
