Jonathan S. Stamler, M.D., is Director of the Institute for Transformative Molecular Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals, holding the Robert S.
and Sylvia K. Reitman Family Foundation Distinguished Chair.
He is recognized internationally for his discovery of protein S-nitrosylation, a major post-translational protein modification involved in physiology and disease. He completed his medical residency and fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital, joined Harvard faculty in 1993, and served as George Barth Geller Professor at Duke University before joining CWRU.
In 2012, he founded and became Director of the Harrington Discovery Institute at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, and was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in 2023.
