Rhine McLin, born in Dayton, Ohio, in October 1948, comes from a family deeply rooted in politics and civil rights. Despite initially not envisioning a political career, she was appointed to her late father's seat in the Ohio House of Representatives in 1989, marking the beginning of her extensive public service.
McLin achieved historic milestones as the first African American woman elected to the Ohio Senate and the first woman Mayor of Dayton, serving from 2002 to 2010. Beyond her political roles, she is also a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, having worked at McLin Funeral Home, and has served as an instructor at Central State University.
