Michael A. Lewis, known as Mike Lewis, is the Sheriff of Wicomico County, Maryland, a position he has held since December 2006 and is currently serving his fifth term.
He has been actively involved with the Maryland Sheriffs' Association, serving as Director, First Vice President (including 2020-), and President (2012-2013). Prior to his election as Sheriff, Lewis had a distinguished 22-year career with the Maryland State Police, retiring as a Sergeant in 2006, where he pioneered the Drug Interdiction Program along Maryland's U.S.
Route 13 corridor. He is recognized as an expert in traffic stops, highway interdiction, hidden compartments, and drug valuation, and is a certified instructor through the Maryland Police Training Commission.
Lewis is also known for his advocacy for Second Amendment rights and for proclaiming Wicomico County a "Second Amendment sanctuary." His career is the subject of the book 'Sheriff Mike Lewis: Constitutional, Uncanceled.'
