Michele Schaut is the President and founder of Michele's Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which she established in 1997. Her dedication to animal welfare began in 1997 after caring for feral kittens on her property, evolving into a full-scale operation that rescues 700-900 animals annually from overcrowded shelters across the country and internationally.
Schaut gained recognition for her efforts in saving 31 abandoned dogs and cats from Roatán, Honduras. She is also credited with founding The West Michigan Spay & Neuter Clinic of West Michigan and the annual Petapawlooza – West Michigan event.
