Linda Brown was the visionary founder of Building Excellent Schools (BES), a national education nonprofit established in 1993. She served as its Founder and Chief Executive Officer until 2018, after which she transitioned to a Senior Advisor role in 2020.
Brown's tireless advocacy and work were instrumental in the success of over 50 BES schools nationwide, and she identified and trained hundreds of aspiring school leaders who went on to found over 200 schools across the country. An inductee into the National Alliance for Charter School's Hall of Fame in 2008, she held a B.A.
in English from Boston University. Linda Brown passed away at the age of 81 on Christmas Day, 2023.
