Laurence Wellikson, MD, MHM, served as the founding and only CEO of the Society of Hospital Medicine from 2000 to 2020, during which time he grew the organization from approximately 500 to over 17,000 members and oversaw the launch of the peer-reviewed Journal of Hospital Medicine.
