Britt is the Henry Ford Professor of Surgery and Edward J. Brickhouse Chair in Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he also serves as Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs.
A Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health graduate, he is a pioneering acute care surgeon who authored the term "Acute Care Surgery" and has published over 220 peer-reviewed articles and authored multiple books. He is a recipient of the American College of Surgeons Lifetime Achievement Award, the Roswell Park Medal, and the Robert J.
Glaser Distinguished Teaching Award.
