John Gallagher is a seasoned college basketball coach known for his transformative leadership and program-building expertise. He served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Hartford from 2010 to 2022, where he became the all-time winningest coach in the program's Division I history.
Under his guidance, the Hawks achieved their first-ever America East Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in the 2020-21 season. Gallagher is recognized for his emphasis on defensive play and developing student-athletes both academically and athletically.
He resigned from Hartford in November 2022, citing concerns over player safety and budget cuts during the university's transition to Division III athletics, and subsequently became the head coach at Manhattan University in March 2023.
