Ira D. Hammerman served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) for over 18 years, joining the predecessor Securities Industry Association in 2004.
He oversaw legal, compliance, and regulatory advocacy for the trade association through major industry events including the 2006 SIA-Bond Market Association merger, the 2008 financial crisis response, and implementation of Dodd-Frank. Prior to SIFMA, he was a partner at global law firm Clifford Chance, serving in leadership roles including Washington D.C.
Office Managing Partner. He retired at the end of 2022 and subsequently joined Bates Group as Managing Director.
