Dr. Robert B.
Sloan Jr. was an American academic and theologian, recognized for his significant contributions to Christian higher education.
He served as a Trustee for the Cullen Trust for Higher Education from 2020–2024. His distinguished career included serving as the 12th president of Baylor University from 1995 to 2005, and as the founding dean of Baylor's George W.
Truett Theological Seminary from 1993 to 1995. From 2006 until his death in 2026, he was the president of Houston Christian University (formerly Houston Baptist University).
Dr. Sloan was known for his visionary leadership, implementing strategic plans like "Baylor 2012" and "The Ten Pillars" at Houston Christian University to advance their Christian missions.
He also authored books and numerous scholarly articles.
