Dr. Antoine M.
Garibaldi is President Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor at University of Detroit Mercy, where he served as the 25th president (2011-2022). He was the first layperson and first African American president in the university's modern history, and the first African American president of any Jesuit college or university in the United States.
A tenured professor in educational psychology for over four decades, he led major institutional growth including $82 million in facilities investments and improved enrollment, retention, and graduation rates.
