Visionary Voices features original work from experienced fundraisers, nonprofit executives, advisors, and practitioners writing from direct responsibility.
This is a curated forum. Contributors are selected for depth of experience, operational credibility, and demonstrated results.
Visionary Voices is intentionally limited and does not publish: early-career professionals, academic commentary without applied responsibility, vendor marketing content, trend-driven opinion pieces, or personal brand publishing.
If your work has not been shaped by accountability, consequence, and execution, it does not belong here.

With a career that began in the arts as both a performer and educator, including teaching in the New York City public school system and at pre-professional arts institutions across New Jersey, Katie developed early strengths in communication, empathy, and relationship-building that have served as the backbone of all her professional endeavors. She later expanded her work into nonprofit arts administration, supporting community engagement initiatives and deepening her understanding of mission driven work. These combined experiences naturally led Katie into fundraising. She joined Action Against Hunger USA as a Strategic Partnerships Associate, where she supported corporate, foundation, and public sector relationships and managed cross departmental projects, including the development of a donor engagement program. Now, as the Planned and Major Giving Officer, Katie draws on this full spectrum of experience to build meaningful, long-term donor relationships through thoughtful conversations, personalized communication and reporting, and creative monthly Legacy Society outreach. This work is guided by a true commitment to understanding why each donor gives and how they feel most appreciated. What she values most about her role is ensuring donors feel seen, connected to their impact, and supported as they consider a major gift in the present or one of the most generous, inclusive, and full circle forms of philanthropy: legacy giving.
Do you feel unseen, unheard, and underfunded? To get funding, you need to be fundable & findable. It’s your brand — not fundraising alone — that attracts the money. So stop chasing donations and build your brand first, funding second.
