Where the work happens
When COVID-19 arrived in march of 2020 and schools closed their doors, explore ecology staff quickly developed online virtual environmental education lessons to fulfill its contract requirements to reach students in 86 schools across santa barbara county.
The art from scrap creative reuse store shut its doors on march 12, 2020 and remained closed for the remainder of the year due to COVID-19. An on-line shopping website was created with pick-up days scheduled each saturday out in the parking lot. When santa barbara entered the red zone, saturday parking slot sales were added.
Art Programming
With "stay at home orders in place, explore ecology provided an on-line forum for hands-on art exploration and learning with reuse materials found at home, to help increase problem solving skills and to learn to "use what you have".
